Inside Techmi: How We Source Products Worth Owning

Every product on Techmi starts as one of roughly thirty candidates in the same category. We order all of them, use them for two weeks, and tear half of them apart — sometimes literally.

Our sourcing team scores each candidate across twelve criteria: material quality, tolerances, packaging, factory audit results, defect rates, and how it survives a drop test, among others. A product needs 10 of 12 to make the catalog. Most score six.

The result is a catalog that stays small on purpose. We'd rather have four exceptional products in a category than forty forgettable ones. That's also why our return rate is under 2% — a fraction of the industry average.
